Publish to Ghost
Publishes via the Ghost Admin API, authenticated with a short-lived JWT signed by your Admin API Key.
How it works
Authenticates with a short-lived signed token generated from your Ghost Admin API key, the same auth model Ghost's own admin client uses, then posts through the Ghost Admin API.
Before you start
- A Ghost site, Ghost(Pro) or self-hosted
- A Custom Integration created in Settings, Integrations, giving an Admin API Key
- The site's Admin API URL (usually your domain, sometimes a different port on self-hosted setups)
Setup
Three steps to connect
Step 1
Get your admin api key
Settings -> Integrations -> Add custom integration, in the "id:secret" format Ghost shows you.
Step 2
Enter your site details
- Site URL *
Step 3
Connect and publish
Once connected, approved posts publish straight to Ghost automatically. No export, no import, no copy-pasting into a CMS. Setup runs from your own client portal, so credentials for Ghost stay with you; the agency never has to hold or request them separately.
Troubleshooting
If something doesn’t connect
Connection test fails with an invalid token error
The Admin API Key has to be the full "{id}:{secret}" string Ghost shows when the Custom Integration is created, not just one half of it.
Connection test can't reach the site
Self-hosted Ghost sometimes runs its Admin API on a non-standard port or path. Confirm the Admin API URL matches what's shown in the Custom Integration screen exactly.

Yes. Posts publish as regular Ghost posts, so your active theme renders them exactly like anything written in Ghost's own editor.
Yes, it's a normal Ghost post once live. Edits made directly in Ghost stay unless the post is republished from Comppound.
Credentials are encrypted at rest and only ever used server-side to publish. Nobody, including us, can view them again once saved.
Nothing changes on Ghost itself. Everything already published stays exactly as it is. New posts just stop syncing until it's reconnected.
