How to read the result
SEO costs arrive before the revenue does. A page published this month may take months to rank, so a single month's ROI understates a programme that is working and flatters one that has stopped publishing. Run this on a trailing twelve months for a fairer picture.
The two conversion rates carry most of the result. If you only know one blended visit-to-customer rate, put it in the first field and set the second to 100.
The formula
SEO and AI searchROI = (revenue from organic − SEO cost) ÷ SEO cost.
Revenue from organic = visits × visit-to-lead rate × lead-to-customer rate × revenue per customer.
Frequently asked questions
Everything you would stop paying if you stopped doing SEO: agency or freelancer fees, the share of salaries spent on it, and tools. Leave out hosting and anything the site needs regardless.
Early in a programme it usually is, because the pages have not had time to rank. Check whether rankings and impressions are rising in Search Console before judging the spend on revenue alone.
