How to read the result
Decide whether you mean users or accounts and keep to it. A team plan with ten seats is ten users and one account, and the two averages differ by a factor of ten.
An average can hide a split. If a few large accounts sit beside many small ones, look at the median or at each plan separately.
The formula
RevenueARPU = monthly recurring revenue ÷ paying users (or accounts).
Frequently asked questions
ARPU divides by users, ARPA by accounts. SaaS sold to companies usually reports ARPA, because the account is what buys and what churns.
Pricing, packaging and expansion: higher tiers, more seats, add-ons. It is often faster to move than customer count.
